Writing is different from a climb to the peak of Mount Everest. Both are more challenging than you can imagine, and you may lose your footing once in a while. But instead of losing a life on the ice and snow, your writing can take people on a life-changing, life-saving journey.
Your story needs to be published.
Some of the best stories are about people whose struggles took them from tragedy to triumph. Doesn’t that describe what God has done for you? Readers will be captivated by the breath-taking part, which is the long struggle that brought you from who you were to who you became.
Don’t make the climb by yourself.
No sane climber would approach Everest thinking, I can do this on my own. As much as mountain climbers depend on gear, training, and Sherpa guides, writers need partnering with other writers, joining a critique group, and attending writer’s conferences and seminars.
Ignore the naysayers.
You need a “pick me up,” not a “push me down.” Surround yourself with encouragers, and close your ears to those who say you can’t. With God, all things are possible, but not to those who can’t believe.
One step at a time, you keep climbing.
If you slip and fall, don’t let yourself stay down for long. Push yourself. Keep taking the next step up, and you can’t help but reach the top.
When your way is committed to God’s will, failure is impossible and the reward is inevitable.
Brace for Challenges
Overconfidence can be a killer. We don’t know what we don’t know, so we can feel really good about ourselves until we face the crevasse and see no way to get across.
Just be aware that bestselling authors faced countless rejections until they finally found a way around. Keep writing and looking, because God can show us the way that we can’t see.
