The Leadership Team

Donna Skell — Roaring Lambs Executive Director

With a heart for God, people, and business, Donna stays active in the Christian community. She has been involved with this ministry since its inception and came on staff in 2008. Donna oversees all Roaring Lambs events and Bible studies, co-hosts an international radio show called, A Time to Dream, on the WRNO Worldwide Radio Network. The program features powerful faith stories. She especially enjoys speaking to ladies’ groups, churches, and retreats. Her rich Jewish heritage and her study of God’s Word enhance her insight into the issues involved in Christian faith and living.

In addition to her work with Roaring Lambs, Donna serves on the Fellowship of Professional Women Board, the Christian Women in Media Advisory Committee, and the Collin County Christian Prayer Breakfast Committee.

Marji Laine — Director of Publishing Services

A graduated homeschooling mom of four, Marji began her writing career almost twenty years ago. Now with thirteen books in print, Marji still carves out time to write, though her publishing work commands much of her time.

In addition to the interior and graphic design that she provides for other authors, Marji is the director for Roaring Lambs Publishing. She enjoys working closely with authors to accomplish their publishing goals. She also owns and runs a small, traditional house, Write Integrity Press, LLC, where she works with about two dozen authors, having published almost 100 books.

When she isn’t working or writing, she enjoys playing strategy games with her family, watching a variety of sports, teaches a weekly ladies’ Bible study, and sings alto in her church choir. She prefers mountains to beaches, dogs to cats, vanilla to chocolate, and she loves watching the Lord work.

Frank Ball — Roaring Writer

For ten years, Frank Ball directed North Texas Christian Writers to help members improve their writing and storytelling skills. In 2011, he founded Story Help Groups and joined the Roaring Writers ministry seven years later to encourage and equip all Christians to tell their life-changing stories. He has taught at writer’s conferences and churches across the U.S. and Canada. Besides writing his own books, he does ghostwriting, copy editing, and graphic design to help others publish high-quality books. As Pastor of Biblical Research and Writing for three years, he wrote sermons, teaching materials, and hundreds of devotions. He coaches writers, writes blogs, and is a panelist on The Writers’ View. His first book Eyewitness: The Life of Christ Told in One Story is a compilation of biblical information on the life of Christ in a chronological story that reads like a novel.

Karen Steinmann – Editing Consultant

After enjoying her first decade out of college in the ’80s as senior copywriter and editor at Concordia Publishing House, Karen took a break to raise four kids and made a happy discovery: her opportunities for sharing God’s Word through writing and editing had only just begun. After another decade passed, she began teaching writing to students of all ages, and this blossomed into her own writing and editing service. Now for several decades she has crafted and edited hundreds of assets for an array of clients — promotional copy, websites, and more — but even better has found her sweet spot, the place that brings deep purpose: coming alongside authors to help them hone and polish their stories of faith. Through substantive and developmental editing, she loves to help authors bring fresh clarity to their writing, boosting engagement and inspiring their readers. Now, when Karen looks back over the years and how God has led her to edit for Christian authors, the place where her skill set fits so vibrantly, Karen continues to thank God for his faithfulness. Karen and her husband, Mark, reside in Frisco, Texas.

Lisa Bell – Editing Consultant

A published author of fiction and non-fiction books, Lisa Bell worked as a community editor for NOW Magazines LLC (BurlesonNOW and WeatherfordNOW) from October 2015 until January 2023, credited with hundreds of articles. She enjoys working with writers to encourage and help improve skills and offers expertise for independent publishing alongside multiple technical skills from editing, to interior design, and custom covers.

A leader of two writing groups (www.roaringwriters.org/groups-locations/), Lisa also speaks or teaches whenever the opportunity arises. She holds a BS in Business Management from University of Phoenix, is a CLASS alumni, and a panelist for The Writers View. Single mother and grandmother, she lives southwest of Fort Worth, Texas and strives to always continue learning new things.

Because, she truly believes, that this life is full of unlimited possibilities.

Cherie Nichols – Marketing Specialist

Raised in North Texas, I love every moment of being here. I have attempted to live in two places, only to return to North Texas. We know where my heart is. I reside in a suburb of DFW with my husband and two cats. I have had cats all my life; they bring me joy and comfort! Especially the purrs.

As a former teacher of seventeen years, I felt the need to write a book after a health scare. I am currently working on writing my first memoir on my faith through a journey of health. I am a published writer in a magazine and a book. I enjoy working and helping with non-profit organizations, such as Roaring Lambs. It feeds my soul and my desire to help others.

Kathy Nickel – Publishing Associate

Born and raised in the great state of Texas, Kathy is the wife to her beloved husband for 33 years and mom to 3 wonderful grown children.  Her hobbies are studying the Bible, reading, spending time with friends and family, traveling, adventures, and crafting.
