Some of us remember days when yards had no fences and exploring the creek bed was safe as long as you watched for snakes. Playgrounds had swings that taught you to hang on for dear life. Merry-go-rounds were a thrill if you screamed and somebody else was spinning the wheel—not too fast.
Now we have playgrounds where kids must play really hard before they can get hurt. What fun is that?
Tim Hawkins does a delightful job portraying “the good old days” on the playground.
