Like city lights on a hill that cannot be hidden, your testimony should give light to the whole world. Writers do not hide their stories where they cannot be read. They are published in emails, blogs, and books to give light to everyone. — Matthew 5:14—15 paraphrase
Being a Christian means you have experienced a change in your life. You’re not the person you used to be. And that’s a miracle that should be shared with the world.
Your story needs to be told.
The apostle John said the whole world couldn’t contain all the books that should be written about the life of Christ. Why is that? Most of Jesus’ miracle stories have happened after he ascended into Heaven. Since then, millions of Christians have experienced his power in their lives, but most of their stories were never written. Why? Maybe they were busy with other things and didn’t think they had the time. Perhaps they didn’t realize what a difference that telling their story would do for others as well as themselves.
Magnify the victory.
Some Christians remember their tragic past and don’t want to relive the pain. Why should we want to renew memories of our suffering? Unlike before, this time we know there’s victory ahead. Each time we recall what we’ve been through, the pain becomes smaller and the victory is magnified, both for us and for those who hear our stories.
