In the Peanuts cartoon, Charlie Brown’s dog Snoopy is a flying ace in his World War I battles with the Red Baron.
Coincidentally, a real Charlie Brown was a B-17 bomber pilot in World War II. German pilot Franz Stigler saved his life by secretly escorting Brown to England on December 20, 1943.
More than forty-five years later, the two pilots met on the ground for the first time. They became close friends until their deaths in 2008.
