Marketing Toolbox

January 2024

Dear Authors,

Just a reminder, this is not an advertisement for any new product. All of these emails are free to you in hopes that they will give you some guidance for how to show and share your book.

Tip #3

These first three tips are crucial to getting started well. We’ll be setting them up soon on our website and will send you a link so you can check on them in case you missed them the first time.

This tip is the third piece of a focused triangle for your book promotion. Social media is key nowadays to selling your books. While typical social media is according to your genre, Facebook is a key component to building your marketing plan. While you might not be active on Facebook personally, consider this step to be part of your business.

Set up a Facebook profile and join in on the conversations. Make lighthearted or inspiring posts of your own and engage with comments on other people’s posts. We’ll be talking, in coming months, about specific things you can do to stir up interest in your book on Facebook, but any friendly posting that you do in the meantime would be helpful.

This is a balance though. It needs to be engaging with friends and about topics that are passionate for you. At the same time, this is business! Stay positive! Avoid rants and negative comments at all costs. And be careful of which posts you “like.” Keep in mind that you are likely speaking to your audience. We’ll chat about that more as well.

Remember that if you don’t have a sales report attached, you have no sales during August, September, or October. Those of you whose royalties for this quarter reached our minimum will be receiving your checks soon. If your royalty total didn’t reach the minimum, they will continue to compile until they do or until the end of the year.

Let me know if you have any questions!
