The realism now possible in video is nothing short of phenomenal. Whatever we can imagine can be made real on film, a huge change from “moving pictures” in the 1910s with a music soundtrack and no picture.
Now, the screen can show us snow in July’s summer heat, giraffes clomping up a spiral incline, and elephants who, unlike Dumbo, don’t need gigantic ears to fly.
